Hello, so I have a subquery that I wrote which works well, I am trying to create a Kinetic-BAQ event in app studio that is pulling the data from this BAQ. It works fine with grabbing the data, however I would like to enter a subquery criteria in the BAQ Execute Options. Currently I have a where clause that is able to filter one of the tables, but I specifically need a SubQuery Criteria to run instead. What would the syntax for that be?
@KP_Interface would it be possible to add an execution parameter to your BAQ and use that in the subquery criteria clause in the BAQ and then in the app studio call to the BAQ you just pass the parameter to it from your UI or whatever as part of the BAQ Execution parameters?
So like here you open up query parameters.

Add a parameter for your field, like MyParameter. I think if you say “skip condition if empty” it won’t consider any condition that this parameter is used in, but don’t quote me here… been a minute since I’ve played around with this.
Then you can use that parameter in your subquery criteria… (your photo first, mine second- to show you how to use the parameter you just made).
Now @KP_Interface you can load the Kinetic-BAQ action in your event, choose your BAQ, and then navigate to the BAQ Parameters Section and then pass whatever value you want from any of your dataviews into that parameter and you’ll get what you wanted.
Hopefully that accomplishes what you wanted… I’m sure there may be another way, but…
That is pretty interesting, I managed to do it only issue is that I cant change the Field Data type. Not sure if that matters but I do have an integer, but I can just set the parameter to a string I guess. I will be testing that out now, but just wondering for anyone else who might come across this fix.
Nice, I think that someone has surfaced that before, maybe @dcamlin can break down what to do to make sure it passes as an integer when setting the value in app studio.
row-update can change the type. So, before your Kinetic-BAQ call, perhaps you can row-update your value into a TranView.MyParameter field, setting the type in the row-update. Then use TransView.MyParameter as the value you’re passing.
I haven’t played with BAQ parameters much, as they didn’t work well in Kinetic in the past. But now that there is more functionality available there, I would try the above if the field type becomes an issue.
Thanks for chiming in, I wasn’t sure where they would pull their value from, but I love that you can dynamically create fields in the TranView and then pass that.
I almost bat signaled you after reading the original post but figured I’d give it a go first.
Well, I’ve never tried it with parameters, but I did it on Friday in the below thread to set an integer value as a string for a message-handler. So, I would assume it would work in reverse.
Thanks for also adding that in this thread. I was going to try and look up someone doing this like that and didn’t… This thing is pretty complete now.
@KP_Interface, would you let us know how it goes and what you ended up doing?
Yeah, I am working on recreating the dashboard I have for this cause its got a few moving parts that makes app studio mad when I change them. When I am done though I will update this with the final and let you know how it goes. I appreciate the help!
Sweet! Sounds good! After you do that, would you also please consider marking an answer if there is one so that other users who stumble upon your post can find it?
So fun fact I have learned if you pull the BAQ after you add a parameter it sets the parameter type automatically which is neat. I am trying to set it to 1 by updating a row for the callcontextBPMdata.number01 field but then querying using that field, but it is returning an empty grid when I do so. I also tried just setting the Field value to 1 or “1” or ‘1’ but those did nothing.
I know you said to use transview, but that table doesnt pop up as an available option on the row update. I also tried with and without brackets, but it seems to not be working for some reason. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
I am booked for the next 2ish hours, if I can get to it before the end of the day I’ll try what @dcamlin suggested, but if he can jump in that’d be huge cause I think it’s rather simple, but because I don’t have as much experience in Kinetic, it’ll take me having to go play around with this customization to tell you for sure.
If this is a custom dashboard/App… you have to create TransView as a dataview in order to use it. Stock Epicor apps already have it, but if you’re creating one from scratch you have to add TransView as a dataview and then initialize it in an event (after form onload, etc.).
You don’t HAVE to use TransView. CallContext should work as well.
If your parameter is looking for a true/false… I would try row-updating CallContextBpmData.Checkbox01 to a value of true or false (vs 1 or 0), and see if that goes through as a true Boolean value.
Nice David! @KP_Interface let us know if you need to know how to create a dataview or if the CallContext.Checkbox01 works.
Okay setting it to true seemed to work when using checkbox01!
I have some work to do but will show off my implementation of this concept once its all done, thanks again gents I appreciate it
That’d be cool! Thanks in advance for sharing! Nice work @dcamlin!
