Creating Make-to-Job Jobs Between Sites

Hello,

I’m curious if anyone has experience setting up make-to-job jobs across two different sites. Is this even possible?

If so, what does the process look like? I suspect there may be quite a bit of background configuration required, but I haven’t been able to find a clear path or documentation outlining the steps.

Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

I believe from previous testing that this can be done, what have you tried so far ?

Yes, this can be done. Are you actually manufacturing a subassembly complete at one location to send to another or are you just performing certain operations at the location?

Yes, completing a sub assembly at one location, to make to a job at another location. How do we set that up? Right now I get an error if I try to make to another plant other than the one I am in when creating the job.

The part must have both site records on it and they both must have an approved revision.

Hmm, I tried that and it still does not seem to work as I’d hoped.
I made sure there is an approved revision in each site.
I have an approved rev in both site Aircraft Mod and site Machine Shop -

Then I set up a job within the Aircraft Mod site with the same part I’d set up in the Machine Shop site as a material and marked as ‘make direct’.
Next, I created a job in the Machine Shop site and tried setting it up as make-to-job to the job I created in the Aircraft Mod Site but I get this error -

I tried reversing the link and still got the same error but saying it is designated to come from Machine Shop..
Thoughts??

I don’t believe you can manually do it, it would have to come from the MOM. Is the method set up correctly to get the alternate method? If you get details on a job, it should come in correctly.

Yes, I did grab details when I created the job (did not manually create) and I have the Use Alternate Method for Parts checkbox checked on the method but the system still does not allow me to make-to-job between plants.

Welp, I thought I resolved this by setting up the part at the FROM site as ‘non-stock’. Then I was able to make to job in a different site.. Which creates a transfer order.
Thought all good and dandy but nope, transfer orders don’t work on non-stock jobs from what I’m seeing??
*** We are really just looking for a ‘queue’ that shows inventory when a job receipt to job transactions is needing to be completed. Job receipt to job works fine between two sites.

They do. We do this. It’s a headache; not sure I recommend it; but you can.

This is my internal doc on it. I see nothing proprietary in it (that I should not be sharing). Maybe it will help.

Cab Refurb Setup in Epicor.pptx (2.9 MB)

Do you mind sharing? Maybe the headache is worth it if it provides visibility of make direct jobs that need to be processed.. :grimacing:

We were typing at the same time… Did you see the PPT file? Or are you asking something else?

Yes I see now, thank you very much! I will take a look.
