There is a "Required" checkbox in Extended Properties maintenance. From
what I can tell, this does not make the field required when saving. But if
you go to Tools | Options | Control Indicators and check the "Required
Field" checkbox and choose a color, all the fields that are marked as
"Required" in Extended Properties will have that different color border.
Even UD fields.
