They need to be on CRE don’t think you can use PPCP with the old EXDM system for CC processing.
The license/module is called CRE right? EXDM stands for what again?
There was a legacy product that was ESDM (I forget what the heck it stands for but it was the Epicor software that ran credit cards)
That has been replaced by the CRE software, but there are some folks still running ESDM
I see, but you think that anyone running CRE should be fine to change over to PPCP, is that right?
Correct.
@shobdy so if you are running CRE Jose is saying that we should be able to change to PPCP without an issue.
I was sent two videos about how to get the username, password and merchantID from Paypal after setting up a REST service in PayPal.
Below is what I was sent on the Epicor set up side:
The Configuration tab does not need any change. You should move to the Processor tab and add a new record for the ***paypal_ppcp_test*** .
- In Kinetic, navigate to Sales Management > Order Management > Setup Credit Card
Configuration .
-
Select the Credit Card Processors card.
-
To create a new payment processor, select New. This new processor should be selected on
Currency Master Maintenance program for each specific currency.
- In the Partner Information section, do the following:
- Processor Name . Enter the name of the payment processor supported by EPA:
paypal_ppcp_test - this is used for PayPal Commerce Platform (PPCP) for testing.
paypal_ppcp - this is used for PayPal Commerce Platform (PPCP) for production.
-
Processor Description. Enter a description for the payment processor record. i.e. paypal_ppcp.
-
Partner o TerminalID: enter any value, such as a store number or a clerk’s username. This field is used for reporting purposes.
-
Merchant ID. Enter the PayPal Merchant Identifier generated previously.
-
User. Enter User or PayPal Client ID generated previously.
- Password . Enter the Secret Key generated previously.
-
Bank Account. Specifies the default bank account to be used for credit card payments.
-
Please do not fill Group ID, Third Party Processor ID, Customer ID, Phone number, these fields are not required for PPCP processor.
- Select Save.
Not sure if the CRE module in pre-kinetic versions is plumbed the same as the newer ones? I see in your documentation you have to set up a REST service in paypal. Do you think calling this service is the same version to version?
Thanks everyone great support from this group as always
We have been having this issue for a month now and are not getting any information on how to fix from Epicor. We tried to upgrade but that did not work. Epicor sent us to PayPal but they sent us back to Epicor. Looking for some instructions on how to upgrade to PPCP. Do we need to open a PPCP account with PayPal? We are on Kinetic 2023.2
Here’s instructions just don’t do it with a test account for production use your production PayPal and stated above use PPCP not PPCP_Test
So our Merchant ID, User and Password from the previous processor should work fine?
From what it looks like, when you create the REST API in PayPal, you get new credentials.
I don’t remember do that when we when live. Do all connections use the RES API?
Shawn I was told by Epicor support we need to upgrade to Kinetic to get this working. We are working on the upgrade but its not going to happen for another 9 months.
Do you have a solution for your version?
Sorry, The version listed by my name has changed.
We went to Gov Cloud a little while ago and I forgot it was even listed by my name.
We are considered Kinetic, even though we still use the client with modern screens.
Mark
Are you using ESDM? This is CR it has nothing to do with kinetic unless you are super super old
That’s what’s tripping me up is that I don’t see Epicor being very explicit about why you need to go to Kinetic. I feel like they should be saying if you are on ESDM it’s not going to be supported and you need to get on CR which is available across 10.2 and higher, maybe 10.1 or 10.0… not sure…
Jose I am not sure. I was not that familiar with CC processing and all I know is that in our CC Configuration we pointed to a PayPal object. We were able to process intermittently over the past two weeks and now it has gotten to a point where we can’t do any approvals and we rely on this every day on a small amount of orders. What is ESDM and how can i get back to processing CC orders within several days? I’ll look into is some more but if anyone else on 10.2.700,36 can tell me what’s involved I would appreciate it.
We’re having the same issue. We’re on prem, Kinetic 2024.1.x. At first, we thought it may be a server patch, firewall, or MS Cloud Defender.
Epicor Support had us update CRE and turn on logging. The logging doesn’t seem to indicate much, other than record the random CC transactions timeouts.
It was first noticed 4/8, but has steadily gotten worse. Many times, the user can re-run the card and it will go through on the 2nd/3rd time. Two days ago, however, it took 21 times before the card went through! Additionally, trying to post a refund which times out throws the user an error screen.
We have an escalated case with Epicor and they said we needed to upgrade to PPCP, requiring us to reach out to our CAM. That conversation has been started, but it seems that the process to move to PPCP isn’t established or well-known (we’re still waiting on what to do).
Frustrating. Rush orders are being held until the transaction can go through. Yesterday they couldn’t get the charge to post before end of day, so our staff went home. Not good.
