Credit Card Sales Order Processing

Hi Jill,

When you say : 'When the order is shipped, Vantage goes out to Paypal and actually charges the credit card for the full amount of the order. If the amount has changed from the authorization amount, it will charge the credit card for the actual order charge."

You mentioned that if the amount in the order changes , paypal will only charge the new amount? Say for instance the customer has some unapplied credit(or planning on pay a part of the amount in a different term) and pays the rest via credit card. Paypal still charges the full amount of the SO (during shipment) even when is only authorize for less in the SO entry. We have had issues on this in 9.04.507A.

Thats the only problem we have faced with CC module. did you ever find yourself in taht situation??

Thanks,

Liss

Can anyone provide details about
1) the differences and specifications between authorize, deposit, and sale during order entry
2) Whether anyone has had any luck getting the charge to actually go through at the time of shipment.

TIA

Liss
Deposit - From what I understand, a credit card is charged at order entry for the required deposit only. This amount will be applied to the invoice when it is posted and a balance will remain on the invoice. We do not do deposits.
Authorize - We authorize the customer's credit card at order entry time for the amount of the order (including freight and miscellaneous line charges). The money is not withdrawn from the customer's account at this time but the funds are on hold for us. When the order is shipped, Vantage goes out to Paypal and actually charges the credit card for the full amount of the order. If the amount has changed from the authorization amount, it will charge the credit card for the actual order charge.
Sale - The customers card is immediately charged for the amount. We do not use the sale button in order entry because we use Insite to add freight charges on the order and we do not have those amounts at the time the order is entered.

We have been using the authorization process for four years and it works very well for us.

We are currently doing our credit card processing offline but I would
like to move in the direction of doing it through Epicor itself. Does
anyone have any/comments advice on what is required, processing costs,
ease of implementation, etc? We have just gone live on 9.04.506c.

If for confidentiality, you need to contact me offline, please do.

Thanks.

Deposit - From what I understand, a credit card is charged at order
entry for the required deposit only. This amount will be applied to the
invoice when it is posted and a balance will remain on the invoice. We
do not do deposits.
Authorize - We authorize the customer's credit card at order entry time
for the amount of the order (including freight and miscellaneous line
charges). The money is not withdrawn from the customer's account at this
time but the funds are on hold for us. When the order is shipped,
Vantage goes out to Paypal and actually charges the credit card for the
full amount of the order. If the amount has changed from the
authorization amount, it will charge the credit card for the actual
order charge.
Sale - The customers card is immediately charged for the amount. We do
not use the sale button in order entry because we use Insite to add
freight charges on the order and we do not have those amounts at the
time the order is entered.

We have been using the authorization process for four years and it works
very well for us.
