Crystal 8.5 Links to Access Database -Password Issue

Good Day Todd:

Sun Is on:
M2K, 7.0 SP7, Informix ( not Unix) (Currently using).
Epicor 9, 9.05, SQL (live 7/1/2010)

If you are running SQL version, could you use a SQL view.

Todd,
Rather than using the ODBC link for the access database in crystal try
using the "Database Files" source.

The password being prompted for is not ODBC related. The Access database
does use ODBC to retrieve the Vantage fields but then runs a Query to
populate entirely "native" Access tables. When I then try to link to
those tables from Excel or another Access database it works fine but
from Crystal it asks for "Access Database password". I have not had a
chance to try it yet but was thinking of doing a cut/paste of the
populated table data into an entirely separate database consisting of
just those tables and no ODBC involvement at all. Not useful for
production but might reveal something of this situation.

BTW...once in production it will use a File DSN with the database ODBC
password built in. I am doing this already for a 3rd party application
that needs to read Vantage data and it works well. Nightly scheduled
task opens the Access DB which autoruns a macro to run queries populate
tables via ODBC. 3rd part app is also Access. Seems there's something
about Crystal that's different.

Thanks,
-Todd

Todd,

Did you set up a System DSN for the Access DB and connecting to it with
ODBC or are you trying a different method?

Basically I need to get the customer name onto the tags. Operation and
Work Center descriptions would also be nice.

straight via Access without any password prompting and have tried very
security tweak in Access that I can think of. We're supposed to be using
the tags next Monday and having the customer name instead of just ID
would be really nice.

Good Day Todd:

What exactly is the error message?
Is it a Access error, V8 error, AD error, etc.
Did you try your V8, AD, and other passwords to see if they work?
Maybe print the screen for us?
