And indeed it does work with both my Symbol, and Worth Data test
scanners.

Gary,
If you are looking to create a barcode that will scan and appear
like a
date, you may want to try this trick...
You will need to separate the date into three fields (Month,
Day, Year).
In the barcode, start with an * as you already know, then plug
in date,
then add in /O and then Month, then /O and Year and finish with
* as you
already know.
I believe the /O will generate as part of the extended Code 39
set a
single / character.
You will have to have Extended Code 39 turned on in the scanner.
Good luck,
I will test it here in just a moment and let you know if it will
not
work.

Hi Group
How do you formulate a date field for use in a barcode.
All my other fields I have placed Asterixs at the
beginning and
end, but a date field could show slashes between the MDY
Can anybody help?
Thanks in Advance
