Lots of little reasons more than any huge issue.
1. That's what we have always been using (good reason right?)
2. Avoided transferring lots of assets and values
3. FAS is what our auditors use, recommend and most of all understand
4. We don't rely on posting values to G/L since we use a whopping big spreadsheet to consolidate all the various companies under our parent structure
5. Works for assets outside of our Vantage related companies (can you depreciate a race horse?)
6. Comes with updates for asset categorization for tax purposes
7. I think it was less expensive - especially for just one accounting user
That said I have to add that because of these reasons we never really looked at what Epicor has so I have no opinion about their product at all (other than cost).

Todd,
Why are you using Best Software's Fixed Asset tool and not Epicor's?
I notice Patrick at Speciality Screw also uses Best's product.
We have recognised a need for some sort of fixed asset management
tool and thought we would look at Epicor's product. Is there
something we should know? I did hear someone say at Perspectives that
the depreciation calculation does not work in the US version but it
does in the European one. Is that the erason? We are in Canada so I'm
not sure how this will affect us - I do know we were misled with the
payroll module and its ended up being shelfware. I'd appreciate any
feedback you have.

Dawn
