Crystal left outer join

Wendy,
I believe the nature of a subreport link is that it is a left outer join (meaning that if the records are not in the subreport, it won't stop the main report from showing the record that is being currently viewed. However, that subreport link would not give you the error you are describing.

As Shirley suggested, there is probably a fix for this. In my memory, you may need the outjoin.reg fix that changes some things in your registry for Crystal. It depends on your ODBC version as to which outjoin.reg you use. IF Shirley's solution doesn't help, we'll see what we can do.

Hi again everyone!

Is it possible to link a subreport with a left outer join? I'm getting a left outer join error when compiling my report. I believe I've deducted that the left outer join must be made in the subreport linking to the main report. Is this even possible?

Thanks!

Wendy,
Actually, if you're using ODBC there is a program bug that will give
that error. There is a workaround that will make your reports work. but
its kind of hard to explain. We might have to arrange a phone conversation
so I can walk through it with you. I'm assuming you are using Crystal 8.0.
If anyone else is familiar jump in I have to go into a meeting right now.

Shirley
