In the jobhead table there is a field called USERNAME (this does not show up
in the data dictionary viewer, but it exists). I added it to my traveler and
other reports that use the jobhead table and it prints the current users
name. Just open up your traveler in crystal, add a database field, select
this field from the jobhead and presto, there is the user name. I think
this is one of those hidden fields that we are not supposed to know about.
Or is there some good reason why I can not see it in the data dictionary
viewer ? I wonder how many more of these there are ? I have found some by
just poking around in Crystal, but none that seemed useful.

Anyone know a way in Crystal to get the name of the person running the
report. Login userid (Server or Vantage) would be fine. It would be handy
to print on job traveler to determine who generated it. Is there a function
or call to Windows that can return this?

There's a DLL on our file downloads page that can retrieve an environment
variable for use in Crystal. NT sets one for username, or there are ways
to set one in W9x.

I uploaded a crystal dll that will read any environment variable
on the computer. If you set an environment variable in the login
script it works pretty well. I didn't test the dll a whole lot
after a wrote it but it should work.

I saw that but assumed it was the person who created the job in the first
place not the one running the report. I know there are several fields
created by the job selection process for travelers (which creates the .dbf
files). Not only are many fields missing from these .dbf files but there
are additional fields not even from the tables whose names they are under.
I will try Username and create travelers under several names to see how it
tracks "who creates" the report. Thanks very much for the suggestion.
-Todd C.
PS - Custom programming wanted to charge $1,200 to add just the PO number
for subcontractor operations to the job oper .dbf file for the traveler
(vendor number is already there, why not PO #). We decided to live without
it, for now.

You are correct, but it isn't and available field in every standard Vantagecrystal report. It would be nice if it was.
