Our current process is as follows. We have two accountants that print
checks for three different companies. Right now this is extremely
controlled because we have a check signer attached to our printer that
requires two keys. One key is held by one of the accountants and the
other our CFO. The check signer cannot handle the size of the reports
sent from Vantage. To upgrade our check signer will cost us an arm
and a leg. So, what I am trying to do is find a way around using the
check signer. I can put the signatures of our CFO and President into
the Crystal Report. I also can put permissions settings on the folder
and Crystal Reports file to keep everyone out of it. Yet, there is no
control over our accountants printing checks without authorization
from the CFO in Vantage.
Now, I started looking into Crystal prompting for a password when the
AP check process is ran so that the CFO can still have control over
which checks are run. In my research I found that you can create a
parameter for a password that will block certain fields from being
viewed without the password. Therefore, if the check was run and the
password was incorrect the check would not print correctly.
The question is, how do you set it up? I figured out how to set the
edit mask to password to hide the text. Yet, I cannot figure out how
to set the password.
