Crystal problem - default printer settings

Wayne,
We had similar problems quite a while ago and this was our solution: when
we installed the HP Laserjet II print driver on everyone's computer we named
it "HP Laserjet for Vantage". Then when we created/modified reports, we
selected HP Laserjet for Vantage as the default printer and adjusted the
settings from there. Apparently, Crystal will go out and look for the
printer that was used when the report was created and if it finds an >>exact
match<< then it keeps all of the original settings.
Its been working great for years with few, if any, problems.

Subject: [Vantage] Crystal problem - default printer settings

Just had an old Crystal problem surface again. Apparently all the Crystal
forms in Vantage pull the printer settings (page size & orientation,
copies, etc) from the current default printer, rather than the selected
printer. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

In this case, I'm trying to print 2 copies of AP checks. We have a
dedicated printer for them, so I set up the driver to always print 2
copies
and use a specific paper drawer. The regular report printer stays
selected
as the windows default printer. In Vantage AP routine, we go though the
print process, and select the check printer. However... it only comes up
with one copy. All the settings appear to have been lifted from the
default printer, rather than what was selected for the check printer.
With
the check printer set as default, it works ok and honors the multiple
copies and other settings.

I ran into the same problem last year when I was trying to create a PO
form
to print landscape on a non-standard paper size. It refused to work
unless
the PO printer was selected as the default, or the user changed all the
print settings every time [not acceptable!]
