Crystal reports fluke Help please

It was the RDD I got it running now. Stupid part.inactive field wasn't in
the rdd.

I think you are right the issue lies in the RDD I'm going to see if I can
create. A new one and go from there.

And you chose your modified Report Data Def in your Report Style? Make
sure you do that otherwise it will be sending the wrong result set.

Consider dumping the PartTran table to XML nightly via the BAQ Export
Process. It'll dump to mfgsysdata\reports\{user}. You may filter, as I
have in the past, on specific TranType's (MFG-STK, PUR-STK, etc).

Is it a "new" report that you created or is it a modified version of the
original Stock Status Report? If you created a brand-new report from
the ground-up and put it as a style of the Stock Status report, it may
be tricky.

What I did is added my new report as a style onto the Stock status
report.

So when I run the "stock status" report I change the style to the
inventory
turns report which means that Vantage pushes the correct XML down to the
report when it runs.

Just like it does with the standard stock status report.

I have tested and confirmed that the report is in fact getting the new
XML
file when I run it.

The parttran table is brought in VIA ODBC at the moment which makes the
report take an obscene amount of time to run.

Charlie, if I understand you correctly:

You created a new Crystal Reports report using the Stock Status XML file
located in mfgsysdata\reports\{user}

With the information you shared (and pending I am understanding you), it
doesn't work like that.

The XML file path and name are pushed to Crystal Reports as the report
is generated in Vantage/BAQ. The file is dynamic and changes every time
you run a report. Furthermore, if your Vantage system is properly set
up, those XML files are archived/deleted daily.

You must do one of two things:

1) Create a new BAQ Query and BAQ Report Designer to provide you with
the results you need and pump those out to a brand new Crystal Reports
report.

2) Copy the existing Stock Status report and the system default Report
Data Definition for the Stock Status report. Make changes to the report
and the RDD to yield the results you need. Make your modified report
and RDD a new "Report Style" of the Stock Status report.

How did you bring in the PartTran table? Via ODBC or did you create a
report in BAQ Report Designer?

If I misunderstood your email, I apologize in advance. :-)

All,

I have built a crystal report that returns inventory turn information. I
have basically hung this report off the stock status report so that the
XML
file is sent to it to get the start amounts on a certain day.

Now when I run this report from crystal writer selecting a valid XML
file
from the stock status report the report runs flawlessly but when I run
the
report from vantage I get a error message stating that a field name is
not
known in my record selection statement. Which is just below.

{PartPlant.Plant} = {?Plant Choice} and

({Part.TypeCode} = "P" and {Part.InActive} = false and {Part.NonStock} =
false)and

({PartTran.TranType} = "PUR-STK" or {PartTran.TranType} = "INS-STK" or
{PartTran.TranType} = "MFG-STK") and

{PartTran.TranDate} >= {?Transaction Date}

Now it highlights the first row as having the problem.

I'm totally baffled.

Help please?

~Charlie

I¹m wondering if this is something as silly as having extra fields defined
in a new Report Data Definition, but you didn¹t use that RDD with the report
style that references the new Crystal report file (i.e. you forgot to change
the default data def for the new style)? I do that occasionally and scratch
my head when my report doesn¹t get all of the data I expected.
