Crystal Reports Question

Does anyone know how to keep a group header and its details together. I
do not want the group header to print on page 1 and the details on page
2. I did this on another form but I can not find it or figure out what
I did.

It has been a long day.

Thanks,
Dina
I think I found it - of course as soon as I hit send. I believe it is Under
Change Group - Keep Group Together. This worked for the form but if this is
not correct can someone please let me know.

Thanks.

Good Morning Group,

I have a Crystal question. I am creating a VB form in the OrderHed that
contains check boxes that identify the certification requirements on the
sales order.

Here is my problem. The OrderHed Table in the Crystal Form does not have
the 5 Check Boxes. On a trial bases I deleted the OrderHed from a copy of
the canned form and re-inserted the OrderHed the boxes show up.

Is there any way I can just change the existing OrderHed.dbf to include all
fields in the Vantage OrderHed.

We are on V4.904 using Crystal 7

Thanks,

Wayne
Wayne,

I don't think there is any way to change what data is output to the dbf
files.

As an alternative, if you use the VB Forms check box, that data is in the
OrderHed dbf file for you to grab in crystal.

Wayne,
Open the existing canned report and use the verify database option: It's
under the Database dropdown menu. You will be asked to fix - respond Yes.
This will update the fields that Crystal see.

Jim,

Just tried that. It came back that data base is up to date. Any other
suggestions?

Did you do a print preview from the Sales order before verifying the
database?
Sara,

Yes I did. Still can't see the check boxes. I opened a new report and
inserted the OrderHed table and they do appear if a add all fields.

We use 5 VBForms fields from the Order Header and about 15 from the Order
Detail tables, and all i had to do was print preview the report, then open
the report in crystal and verify the database and then add the fields to the
report and everything works fine. They show up in crystal as
"ODField_Name".
Wayne,

When you goto to add a database field to your report, the first fields you
see are those that are already used on the report. If you scroll down
further you should see all the fields under the OrderHed table.

Wayne,

What you must do is go to the VB form Designer open your OrderHed form and
fill the EXTERNAL NAME
for example "test".
In the OrderHed.dbf there will be a field called QHTEST.
Now print a order and go to Crystal and use the verify database option, you
will be asked to fix - respond Yes.
You will now be able to access the VB form field in the report

How do add multiple database to a crystal report? I have more than one
Vantage Db and want to run one report to run against more than one db.

Thanks,

You would need to create a seperate ODBC connection for each DB. Then
add tables from each connection, then simply join tables for the 2 DB's
and create the report.

Thanks for responding. I pretty much tried this approach before posting
to the group. I am testing with a single table checkhed and joined only
on name, but I can't group on company name from secondary connection.
When you join tables are you joining dissimilar tables from each
connection?

Essentially I am creating a report to pull from multiple databases, but
in detail I am trying to get data from the checkhed table for two
companies with regards to check number and amount. Pretty simple when
it's only one db, however when I add the second odbc connection its like
its doesn't even see it.

You might be able to do a quick export out to a DBF table on each DB, and
then create your report in Crystal without the need for an ODBC connection.

Just a thought

Essentially I am creating a report to pull from multiple databases, but
in detail I am trying to get data from the checkhed table for two
companies with regards to check number and amount. Pretty simple when
it's only one db, however when I add the second odbc connection its like
its doesn't even see it.

Mark,

I haven't tried reporting from multiple DB's so I'm talking in theory
only. I just wanted to make sure you weren't overlooking the
necessity of having 2 seperate ODBC connections. Could you explain
in a little more detail what it is you are trying to accomplish, I
might be able to help more if I understand your goal.
