Crystal Reports Setup on New 10.1.400

Good afternoon!
Looking for some setup/confirmation on usage of legacy Crystal Reports on a newly migrated instance of E10.1.400.20

Some versions of The installation documentation reference Crystal Reports for EWA, but I haven’t seen anything describing setup for the core application.

Any specific setup/install documents out there for Crystal?

Thanks!

Create a new custom folder on your server at C:\inetpub\wwwroot\yourEnvironment\Server\reports. You will find a CustomerReports directory already in place, but for reasons I can’t explain, that particular directory doesn’t work. Create a folder, something like CustCrystalRpt and copy all of your crystal reports into this directory.

Next, update all your Report Styles. You may have to fix/tweak the Report Data Definitions.

There are a few posts already here on setting up Crystal Reports in 10.1. There should be additional information on setup there.

Any luck finding any setup/install documents?

I need to put quite a few custom Crystal Reports from scratch that were written for Vantage 8.03 into our new Epicor 10 system by this weekend.

I put the Crystal Report on our Epicor server in what I’m told is the correct location. I’ve changed the ODBC connection to the Vantage 8.03 database to an OLE DB (ADO) connection to Epicor 10’s database. I test the report in Crystal and it works perfectly.

I thought I was done. I thought I just had to add the report as a Crystal Menu item in Menu Maintenance, but it looks like I have to create a Report Style first. But before I create a report style I have to create a Report Data Definition.

What a lot of overhead! Am I misunderstanding something along the way?

Do I really need to create an RDD when the report is already connecting successfully to the Epic10 database?

Where am I getting confused?

Thanks for any help!

Steven

On Epic website there is a answer book on the steps to run CR on E10

Thanks for the speedy response.

I’ve got the answer book document, titled “How to view Crystal Report forms in Epicor ERP 10.x”.

But it didn’t go into details about creating the Report Data Definition stuff.

Do I even need to create the RDD, or the Report Style?

Steven

For reports that make direct connections to the database outside of the application’s framework a report style and report data definition are not needed. One can add the custom report link directly to the main menu.

No.

Thanks so much!

Steven,

Do you still have the link to the document you mentioned, “How to view Crystal Report forms in Epicor ERP 10.x”? If so, can you please share it?

I’m sorry. I’ve dug through my documents and I’m not finding it.
