Crystal sub report help or an easier file comparison utility

Dan,
I'm not quite understanding how you have this set up, but just a principle to keep in mind... There is a timing issue with subreports and shared variables in subreports. Subreports (and any shared variables in Subreports) are calculate AFTER values in the main report. Also, the Whole subreport is evaluated at one time, so if your subreport is in the details section of your main report, each line of the details will execute the WHOLE subreport each time. Does that make any sense in your current situatioin?

Subject: [Vantage] Crystal sub report help or an easier file comparison utility

Hello I have 2 ASCII text files that I want to compare and return the
difference between the 2. I created a Crystal report with one file in the
main report and one in a sub report. I have linked the 2 reports together,
but left the select data in subreport checkbox unchecked. I then created a
filter in the sub report using the parameter field created by the linking
operation to only display those fields without a matching parameter field.
The filter does not seem to have any effect as it displays the content of
the entire file. Do I need to create the parameter field as a shared
variable?

Thanks

Have a look at this http://www.scootersoftware.com/v2/feature.html
It will even let you compare csv files.
