Crystal table drops records

If you DON'T link the tables, then can you see all 5,000 in the larger table? If you have the two tables linked by a field, and there is a one-to-one relationship between them, you will only see 500 records in each table.

It is true I can only see 500 recs in the table browse
yet I also see the results of only 500 recs in the preview of the
report.

I missed your comment on the first read:

"Crystal Browse shows only 500 records".

Crystal will not browser "every" record in your database,
unfortunately.
The only way to verify that all the records are indeed there is to
put the
records on your report without any filters and see what shows up when
you do
the PREVIEW.

Perhaps I still am not understanding your question, however...

A Crystal report problem:

These files are exported because various changes are done to product group,
etc.

Start with a exported database file
FIN_GOOD.dbf
linked by
partnum to JOB_DETAIL.dbf

The fin_good has the 300 or so records as expected.
Yet the JOB_DETAIL has only 500 of the expected 5000 records!!!!

When JOB_DETAIL is opened elsewhere the 5000 records are there yet
Crystal browse shows only 500 records.
Where are the other records?
Does not change with various joins.

All hints appreciated

This is from the crystal help

Browse Data dialog box
Note: When you browse a field, by default you see the first 500 unique
values of the field. You can change this for the current report by clearing
the Select Distinct Data for Browsing option in the Report Options dialog
box. You can change the default setting by clearing the Select Distinct Data
for Browsing option on the Database tab of the Options dialog box.

If Select Distinct Data for Browsing is not selected, browsing returns the
unique values in the first 500 records.

Note: Note that since most SQL servers do not support selecting distinct
records for long data types such as memo and blob fields, selecting and
browsing distinct records are not supported for such fields.
