Crystal version 8.0 sub reports shared variables a nd conditio

Thad / Troy Thanks for the feedback. I had already played with the
evaluation. What I discovered is that a shared variable will not work with
the WhileReadingRecords. What I was hoping to do was create a on demand
subreport that would run based on the a value returned from the shared
variable created in the subreport. Guess I will try and conditionally
suppress the subreport, and then Shrink that section on the main report per
Troy suggestion.

Thanks
Dan Shallbetter

Dan,

Try experimenting with evaluating the variable during different passes.

BeforeReadingRecords, WhileReadingRecords, and WhilePrintingRecords are the
report evaluation passes available in version 7.

I think creating the variable in the WhileReadingRecords pass, and printing
the variable in the WhilePrintingRecords pass may solve the problem.

Searching the help file for these keywords may give you some insight.

Let me know if this works!

I am trying to create a pick list that will print a certificate of
compliance (C.O.C.) based on a VB check box on the part. I've created an
O.D.B.C sub report consisting of the part table, that contains the C.O.C
wording . I have link the sub report to the canned Vantage Sopickl.rpt I
pass the orddetail.partnumber to the sub report as an unlinked parameter
field. I created a shared variable formula in the sub report comparing the
orderdetail.part number to part.part number. I want to use the shared
variable to conditionally suppress the section containing the sub report,
but as I understand it passing the shared variable back to the main report
has to occur in section below the sub report (Crystal K.B c2007600), This
one is driving me CRAZY, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
