I have found that if the user has rights to the web page then they can open
any report linked on that page. I wish I could find a way to secure the
reports and not just the page but I have come up with anything yet

Subject: [Vantage] Crystal Web Server Security
Yesterday I got the CWS up and running successfully! Now I need to
figure out how to use this effectively. I'm not html savvy enough to
try and produce some web-page menu's right off the bat, I plan to
just distribute shortcuts or hyperlinks to the rpt's in the virtual
directory. I've successfully open reports on many of our PC's, all
but two of the one's I've tried. One seems that its missing an IE
explorer file and thus can't load the Crystal Viewer file like it
does on the initial use. We're going to trying upgrading to IE 5.5
and hope that takes care of it. The other machine will open an rpt
in one virtual directory that Seagate support helped me create, but
not the same rpt in a directory that I created. I get HTTP Error
401.2 Unauthorized: Logon Failed due to server configuration.
Everyone else can open this file.
Regarding security, Our Network support told me I should be able to
set up directories in NT and secure them there. I've tried
restricting access to a very small amount of people, but I've been
able to open on all machines but the two I mentioned. I see 3
possible places to change security regarding these files. On the
physical folder, on the share name for the physical folder, and in
the IIS for the virtual folder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does anyone know of a good manual for IIS. It would be nice to
understand that program a little more than relying on intuition.
Thanks,
