Customer Credit Manager - Partial Order Release?

I’m looking to get some feedback on a possible process adjustment or to see what others are doing. We have a customer that has terms set to pay in advance of shipment so they are on a permanent hold to manage this. When they pay for an order, we release it from customer credit manager.

Recently, it was brought up how to handle a partial release. Example: the customer pays for part of the order and we apply it as a deposit. They want what we have available to ship now (since they’ve technically paid for it), but there is still a remaining amount they owe on the order as well as a remaining amount to ship. In Customer Credit Manager, there’s no way to release a specific line, just the whole order. We end up having to release the whole order to allow them to ship a specific qty, and the only way I can think to stop the remaining portion is to utilize the “on hold” checkbox on the order header.

I would love feedback on how this is handled at other places or if there’s a piece we are missing that we can possibly quickly fix.

Thanks!

Assuming it’s a basic ship-from-stock scenario

  1. Enter a new order for the available-now quantity and release that one
  2. Reduce the original order’s quantity accordingly
