Customer sql view

I meant creating a concatenated field in your existing view that would be
your unique field for access.

Your view would look like

Select company + CAST(custnum AS Char), custid, name ...

From Customer

Do you mean create a new sql view that just pulls up the one company or do
you mean create a field in the query that identifies each record?

Thanks,

Jasper

You could just create your own unique record in your view. You could create
a field: company+cast(custnum as char)

Subject: [Vantage] Customer sql view

I created a customer sql view so I can link it into Microsoft Access.

The problem I am having is that we have 2 companies in Vantage. Each has its
own CustID. The customer number is automatically generated when you create a
new customer. The first customer I created in the first company gets a
CustNum of 1. The first customer I created in the second company also gets a
CustNum of 1.

When I link the customer view to access, it asks what field uniquely
identifies each record. I would normally pick the CustNum but that will not
work. Its actually a combination of the CustNum and the Company.

How can I get the link to work in Microsoft access? If I choose the CustNum
as my unique Identifier, all records show but it does not distinguish
between the different companies.

Does this make any sense? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jasper

Will it let you choose CustNum or error out? If it allows, maybe accept
that and then make two baseline queries that filter off each company
(CustomerCompanyA and CustomerCompanyB) with the Company field. Then all
further query development can use these queries instead of the Customer_View
when accessing the customer table.
