Lori,
An ODBC connection does NOT count as a Vantage license, but it WILL count as a Progess License. There is no limit on Progress licenses in your contract, however you do have to set the number of licenses available in your Progress Explorer tool to account for all of the Progress connections you may ever need. This would include: Vantage licenses, plus Report Builder connections, plus ODBC connections. Typically you could put in twice the number of Vantage licenses that you have and you should be OK. There is a possibility that if you only set Progress Explorer for the number of Vantage licenses that you have that you would get errors related to not having enough users -- which you mentioned in a previous post.

Subject: [Vantage] Customized Reports

Is anyone out there using customized reports either from Report Builder or
Crystal Reports for quoting purposes and if so, do you implement them
through Vantage or outside? The quoting report that is generated from
Vantage is not sufficient for our needs therefore I have created a Crystal
Report that is linked to Vantage for my users to generate. At the time they
are printing the report, they are required to enter several parameters to
generate the correct information based on several formulas within the
report. I am looking for a better solution if there is one.

Also, can anyone tell me if the sysprogress user for Crystal counts as a
concurrent user for Vantage? And if so, is there anyway around this? I am
running into several connection issues. For instance, I have created a
system dsns for each workstations with the login of sysprogress. I can
connect through ODBC in the test connect with a vantage login but as soon as
I try to use those logins in Crystal or anything else I am not allowed to
connect.

If anyone can visit with me online or offline in regards to the above
subjects, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks,

Lori
