Customizing Search Results

Sorry, was offline for a bit. Thank you all for the responses. I
will just do it as you have suggested.

Thanks - Cari

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to customize search results?
Specifically, when searching jobs I would like to have a field display
that shows whether the job is open, closed, or complete in the search
results window for easier sorting.

I have entered developer mode and chose Tools, Customization and I seem
to be able to customize all screen elements, but not the search window.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cari Johnson

Check out Quick Search Entry if you're on 8.03 (not sure about 8.0). You'll
need to make sure your user ID has been given Quick Search maintenance
capability.

OK, Thanks. Does that mean I can't customize the general search tab,
only create Quick Searches to customize what I'll see?

Thanks,
Cari Johnson
Correct, but you can set a quick search as the default so it won't much
matter.

I believe so. However, at least in 8.03.305H, your Quick Searches can be
available when you right-click your search field, so it's not really extra
work to get there. Also, you can make a lot more selection options in Quick
Searches than are available in the standard search screen.

With the help of someone at Epicor, we were able to create a customized
quick search and then make that quick search the default that comes up
system-wide in a general search. The general search we use it on is
for 'Part'. It's working great for us.
