Cut and Paste from Excel

Writing a Macro in Ground Control or AutoIT could easily filter the strings
after picking them out of the Excel spreadsheet and before inserting them
into Vantage.

Charles

I have users who cut and paste data from Excel into fields in
Vantage. Sometimes the resulting pasted values have extraneous
cahracters in the form of black solid boxes at the end of the field.
I have tried various functions on the source field in Excel to remove
the offending characters without any luck. I thought I remember a
comment once before about this. Anybody know how to get rid of them
short of backspacing over them?

Thanks

Keith
Usually black square boxes are an indicaiton of embedded return characters. If the Excel field entry is multi-line, especially if the subsequent line is blank then the copied data will include the return character. I see this in RB reports using Vantage data from memo fields where the user hits the enter key to move to a new line.

A function to remove ASCII character 13 or replace it with a space might help.
