Dashboard printer setting

Epicor support gave us an scr number which resolved the issue on Windows
7 PC with allowing the user to select the printer but not sure if it
addresses our issue. Were you previously getting the unhandled
exception error and with the fix, you are able to select the printer? I
tried recreating the dashboard and it works fine also. The issue seems
to happen on some custom dashboards but works ok on others.

I could not find this, sorry. I do know that 700C is better.

Over the past year we have been experiencing our printing crashing several times a month and have had Epicor troubleshoot the problem with no solution as yet. Has anyone had printing issues that has come up with a solution? It always seems to be the worst during month end closing that printing goes down, but does happen other times during the month randomly.

Once a month he says.... PFFFFTTTT....
I had to write a Program that restarts our Print / Task App Servers several
times a day. Epicor has no solution, so we basically check the DB, every so
often when more than 5 immediate run requests are queued we stop and
restart the print / app servers...

Consider yourself lucky sir! Once a month would be great!

I've only experienced it in a SQL environment, however. I have never seen
it occur in a Progress db environment.

Oh man Jose would you be willing to share that script - it's getting old having to restart ours a couple times a week! Been thinking I needed to figure out how to restart the appservers from a .bat file or something.

Thanks,

I created a bat file once that I put in the Windows Scheduler that simply
restarted the Process Appserver like every 2 hours or something. Completely
transparent to users.

I think someone may have put on on this board a while back. I'll see if I
can find my old ones from a while back.

I am out of the country and don't have access to the script. Let me see
what I can do. Its an SSIS package that checks the DB then it calls a
script to restart the app servers.

PS: Make sure your Print App Server is setup away from the regular app
server or this causes problems too.

Thanks Jose, we do have a separate MfgSys803PrintQueue app server setup if that's what you're referring to. Separating that out was about only suggestion Epicor had. If you can't get at your script just knowing the appropriate command line to restart the app servers would be great!

While this is for unix here is the script I run every night:

asbman -name epicor905-ProcessServer -stop > /tmp/oemaint.txt
asbman -name epicor905-TaskAgent -stop >> /tmp/oemaint.txt
asbman -name epicor905 -trimservers 30 >> /tmp/oemaint.txt
asbman -name epicor905-ProcessServer -start >> /tmp/oemaint.txt
asbman -name epicor905-TaskAgent -start >> /tmp/oemaint.txt

Stopping Appserver:

set DLC=c:\Epicor\OE101B
set PATH=%DLC%\BIN;%PATH%
set LIB=%DLC%\LIB;%LIB%

call asbman -name <appserver name> -stop

to start:

call asbman -name <appserver name> -start

replacing <appserver name> with the name of the appserver wou want to target - e.g. MfgSys803ProcessServer
Thank you, I'll have to give that a shot this week.

Just as a counter example, we don’t have this problem. Well, I might have run into it once, after the servers had been up for two months solid, and some of the progress app servers started sitting at 100% busy for no obvious reason.

Epicor 9.05.607B 64-bit SQL, running 400-500 reports per day.

Brian.

I have this bat file run every night. On your Epicor Server set up a task on your Windows Task Scheduler.

Server itself is rebooted every month or so...

Restart.bat >>>

@echo off
echo Restarting Appservers
set DLC=D:\Epicor\OE102A
set PATH=%DLC%\BIN;%PATH%
set LIB=%DLC%\LIB;%LIB%

echo .
echo .

echo STOPPING LOCAL APPSERVERS AND DATABASE
call asbman -host localhost -name Epicor905ProcessServer -stop -port 20931
call asbman -host localhost -name Epicor905TaskAgent -stop -port 20931
call asbman -host localhost -name Epicor905PrintServer -stop -port 20931
call asbman -host localhost -name Epicor905 -stop -port 20931
REM call dbman -host localhost -database Epicor905 -stop -port 20931

ping 127.0.0.1 -n 30 -w 1000 > nul

echo STARTING LOCAL APPSERVERS AND DATABASE
REM call dbman -host localhost -database Epicor905 -start -port 20931
call asbman -host localhost -name Epicor905 -start -port 20931
call asbman -host localhost -name Epicor905PrintServer -start -port 20931
call asbman -host localhost -name Epicor905TaskAgent -start -port 20931

We ran out of app servers for a few minutes, but the application didn't crap out.
