Data collection users can't clock out

I can safely tell you that individual user ids for each station will not help this. I have it set up this way, and I ask for endact.r what seems like every week.

Anyone:

We too are plagued with employees getting locked into transactions and have to use Endact.r to release them.

Has anyone else heard that if you use unique logins to Vantage for Data Collection that this will help or eliminate locking people into transactions? I had someone tell me if I create a unique user id for each data collection station this will fix the problem. I have not tried it yet as this will involve considerable time setting it up, but if anyone else has experienced this fixing the problem then it is well worth the time and energy.

Hello,

I am having a problem where 2 certain data collection users can't
clock out. Under "Office Data Collection" they are listed as 3/04/06
& 3/07/06 for times under clocking in, and everyone else is normal
(3/24/06, today). If you select them it will say they are clocked
into a blank job - there is no job # or description - and are stuck on
it like that. What happened was we had some problems with nightly
backups sometimes causing the domain controller to freeze & crash very
early in the morning. It had to be rebooted after those 2 people
clocked in those days, somehow making them 'ghosted' as clocked into a
job that isn't real. We've tried deleting their labor for that day, I
shutdown and restarted Progress using it's Control Manager hoping that
this would get rid of everyone clocked in, and many other things.
They are still there though. The floor manager has them listed as
terminated now and gave them different IDs to use, but it would be
nice to get these 2 'ghosted' accounts out of the system. Has anyone
heard of anything similar?

Thank you very much,
Zack
I think we had the same problem here a while back and Epicor had a
fix for it.

We used to have this issue everyday. I would have to knock people off at
least 6-7 times a day. But
we never implemented using a unique data collection user ID for each dc
machine. Somehow the issue
just went away because I never use the endact program anymore.

Anyone:

We too are plagued with employees getting locked into transactions and have
to use Endact.r to release them.

Has anyone else heard that if you use unique logins to Vantage for Data
Collection that this will help or eliminate locking people into
transactions? I had someone tell me if I create a unique user id for each
data collection station this will fix the problem. I have not tried it yet
as this will involve considerable time setting it up, but if anyone else has
experienced this fixing the problem then it is well worth the time and
energy.

We only encountered this problem once, and it was actually AFTER creating
unique log-ins for each work station. However, I think we can tie the
problem we had with our backup program touching the live database. We're
running 6.1.

Good luck,

Gary,
If Support gave you Endact.r, don't believe their warning. You don't have
to have everyone log out of Vantage. It can be run while others are doing
their work. I have done it several times.
Good luck,
