Database Being shutdown

I had the same thing and the cause was VERITAS backups.

Subject: [Vantage] Database Being shutdown

Hi Everyone.
I have a 2003 server running V8.00.810 and sp5 on OpoenEdge.

I am not sure why, but on some days, I come in and people tell me that
they can not log in to Vantage.
I begin to check Admin Tools on the server to see if the system still
thinks they are logged in, and a message comes up saying the database is
being shut down. Of course, I can not get into admin tools, and all I
can do is restart the services and database (or reboot the server. )

Does anyone have any clue what could cause this? It does not happen all
the time, but has happened a few times so far.

Thanks
Carey

It may have to do with your nightly backup and it is forcing the DB to
shut down.

We had this happen and support thought it could be caused by one of two things: my server or too many reports running at one time. I ran diagnostics on my server, and it is healthy. So, we chalked it up to running too many instances of the Inventory WIP Reconciliation Report at the same time.

Yes, this is very plausible as it was actually happening to me until I
realized what I did.
