TT5 is a terminal used to collect information from the shop floor. It has
both a keypad and a bar code interface, so that you may either key data into
it or scan data with a bar code wand. The TT5 has a small (2x24) screen
that allows you to verify your input. Up to 100 TT5s may be connected to
your network. Epicor generally recommends that you use one TT5 for every
ten employees on the floor.
What is the Bar Code Interface to Data Collection?
The Bar Code Interface is an optional interface and module to the Vantage
Data Collection system. It consists of a network of data entry terminals
located on the shop floor, along with the supporting software and hardware
needed to deliver the collected data to the host system (in this case,
Vantage). The Gateway is a PC that manages the network of devices; the
Labor Collector is software that runs on the host, taking the data collected
by the Gateway and posting it to the timecard files.
The Gateway automatically senses whether the Labor Collector is running.
When the Labor Collector is up, the Gateway sends each transaction to the
Labor Collector immediately, or in real time. When the Labor Collector is
down, the Gateway continues to collect data from the floor, but "hangs on"
to the transactions until it senses that the Labor Collector is once again
running. In this way, the Gateway can operate literally around the clock,
while Vantage and the Labor Collector can be shut down for maintenance or as
part of the daily routine.
More information can be found by searching in Vantage under " Labor
collector" or on Eranet.

interface with Vantage?
