Default Sort in AR Invoice Entry

How do I keep the default sort by Sold To Customer Name in AR Invoice Entry in Kinetic? It doesn’t respond when ‘save layout’ is selected.

The issue we have with this is that because you can’t search/sort a text field (Sold to Customer) without downloading all of the records first, it doesn’t/won’t save. You will notice that you can save a sort if it’s a numerical field (etc.) such as “invoice” that is searchable on the initial load…

It’s a problem with how they are handling these grids and large data. I’m pretty sure we turned in a similar ticket a while back, and the result was really a pass on their part. Feel free to confirm what I stated here and open your own ticket with them.

You find this behavior across Epicor in Kinetic… It’s a problem that gets worse as your data grows. I’ve read many similar posts related to this here.

Kinetic grids just seem to not like large datasets

And it’s funny (not really) because that is all we have -large datasets. It’s a database-centered program, right?

We have 45,000 parts, more customers, and tens of thousands of quotes - and we just went live in September… and we’re only getting bigger. Wrangling the data efficiently is always our goal - we need to see it quickly and sort the way that makes the most sense.

I have high hopes for the 2025.1 release… I’ve read through it, there are a number of release notes alluding to potential fixes and enhancements.

We’re still Classic UI here yet and -Fingers Crossed- as we’re hoping to move to Kinetic UI in 2025.1.

Believe me, you will have missed many of the Kinetic-releated growing pains… it was painful, but, honestly, it’s getting better every major release (then a few bug releases after). You are coming in at a good time (compared to when we did).

It’s been, well, a process. But we are happy with their commitment to update and fix, but it needs to be better updates, with less fixes…

We’ve been looking at going Kinetic since 2022.1 so been there for the pain.
