Delete Order Line

Can you elaborate on what the void looks like?

Stacey,

In v6.1 closing the line without deleting the demand will produce the
void, may be the same in your version.

We created a Sales Order and an Advance Billing Invoice was done. The
customer has called and said there is one item on the Sales Order that
they no longer need. When we try to delete it, we get an error that
states: "Delete not allowed. Referenced by at least one invoice".
Does anyone know if there is a way to override this error and delete
the Order Line?

I did an Advance Billing Credit for that particular line but it didn't
do any good.

Thanks for any help we can get.

Stacey
Don't delete the record. VOID it via the Actions menu.

If you close the line without an invoice against it it automatically
voids the line. I am not sure of the exact process you need to follow
in this case since you have pre-invoiced the line. I would assume you
need to back out the line on the invoice first, then close the line.

Stacy,

I think Paul is right: It is probably call Close line (or release or order) and it is whether or not activity (including pre-payment) is associated with the line that determines whether OrderDtl.Closed or OrderDtl.Void is set to true.

Likely the Action sets Void to True if no activity & Closed to True of some activity.

(Sorry, remembering interface options on past versions gets confusing as I deal more and more with the data definitions themselves.)

Paul's also right in that no matter what you do, somehow you have to properly disassociate that prepayment from the Order line via a reversal (which I suspect isn't easily possible - if at all - as it likely occurred in a past period) or an adjustment to an offsetting credit to the customer's general A/P account (where it can then be applied to anything else open if you want).

I don't have Vantage available to open from this location right now. I'll check in the AM and reply again if something I said looks fishy.

Thank you all. I did an Advance Billing Credit against that line
and closed the order line. It did void it and everything seems to
be following through nicely.

Thanks again for the help.
