Frank,

Good idea, ( I hadn't thought of addressing it from that direction)
I will offer that as an alternative. Thank you!

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to throw this dilemma out to you all and see what type
of imaginations everyone has. Actually, we are in the process of
evaluating out Burden Rates for this year. We currently engineer
and manufacture our own product AND also contract manufacture(job
shop)some of our customer's parts. Because there is additional cost
for Research and Development, Prototyping, etc when we make our own
product, we wanted to perhaps use a different set of burden rates
for these parts.

Other than duplicating another set of Work Centers (with different
rates) for our own products and then change all their routings in
the part master, does anyone have any other ideas?

Perhaps there are other companies in the same situation?

Thank you for any input you can provide. Much appreciated!

How about just increase the time by an x factor? It is not pretty. Why do
you not what to have more work centers?

Frank,
Sorry, I don't follow...where would I enter the factor?

Why we don't want to add more workcenters: We were just trying to
do something that would be less labor intensive. We would have to
change every routing to all new Workcenters for 3/4 or our part
numbers. But if this is the only choice we have, then that's the
way we'd go.

Thank you,

Joy
