# Difficulty getting UD field onto Job Traveler

We’ve added some new fields to our part record that I’m trying to pass to our Job Traveler. Currently, I have travelers that have the Part table linked already and some fields from part are currently displaying on the traveler. These were added in 10 and I used the dreaded Sync Dataset button to get them on there.

In Kinetic, the Sync Dataset button is gone (there are good reasons for this, but I miss the functionality). I have added the fields in the RDD and I thought I had added them correctly in SSRS but when I print, the fields are not there. I tried to add one to begin with and it is a decimal value so it should always have some type of value to display, even if only 0.00.

For the moment, I’m only concerned with InnerTubeWall\_c I’m assuming if I can get that one working, I should be able to follow the same steps for the others.

In the dataset definition of the SSRS report, T12 is the part table. I’ve tried adding T12.[InnerTubeWall\_c] and T12.InnerTubeWall\_c as InnerTubeWall as well as other combinations. Currently it is:

and I have added the field in the report:

I then added the field onto the report itself:

But when I print, I don’t get 0.00 or anything at all. Am I missing something or can someone point me in the direction of something that can lead me step by step through the process so I can see what it is I might be missing.

You need the “\_c” when you added the field.

I had that originally until I changed the dataset definition to T12.[InnerTubeWall\_c] as InnerTubeWall

I changed the field to InnerTubeWall\_c:

I changed the field that prints to:  
=First(Fields!InnerTubeWall\_c.Value, “JobHead”)

and changed T12.[InnerTubeWall\_c] as InnerTubeWall to T12.[InnerTubeWall\_c] as InnerTubeWall\_c  
Same result. Blank field.

Changed T12[InnerTubeWall\_c} as InnerTubeWall\_c to just T12[InnerTubeWall\_c]  
Same result. Blank field.

Let me start off with; I don’t know anything about SSRS, so I’m just playing the “what’s different” game here.

But one thing that I noticed is different, is that you don’t have the brackets around the fields like the rest of them do? (Worth a shot?)

The ones listed with “as” don’t use the brackets. There’s only a couple that are in the first part. When I dropped the “as” section, I used only T12.[InnerTubeWall\_c] with the brackets and still returns a blank field (instead of at least 0.00)

Todd, when you query the reporting database for that table using SSMS or something else…

SELECT \*  
FROM JobHead\_YOURGUID

Do you see your field in that dataset?

So run your report with archive period set to 1 day. Then run that query above on the database that holds your reporting data for your reports.

Might be a dumb question, but where do I find YOURGUID? It’s being populated in my query by Parameters!TableGuid.Value but I’m guessing I need to havethat actual value

When you run the report, set the archive to a day and then you can get the GUID in the system monitor.

The “[]” do not matter at all. You can use them or not and it will not impact your report.

If you’re cloud you’ll need to switch the output to XML (like old school Crystal used) then you can generate the file via print preview and download the XML so you can see the dataset generated.

I’m not cloud but I ran it as XML and downloaded it using Server File Download.

In that file I have this line:  
\<xs:element name=“InnerTubeWall\_c” msdata:Caption=“” msprop:SystemCode=“Erp” msprop:DataTableID=“Part\_UD” type=“xs:decimal” minOccurs=“0” /\>

no other lines with InnerTubeWall

Not arguing against the join being incorrect because it very well could be it as I have little SSRS knowledge, however, this is what we had on 10 prior to our upgrade and it currently does print out all UD fields that had been added to Part prior to our upgrade. It just won’t print out any that I have added since upgrading to Kinetic. I never thought I would ever say I miss the Sync Dataset button, but I do.

I believe I found the GUID nosing around in SSMS. Now if I run the Select \* I get a result of 1 row. But that field shows in the Part table, not the JobHead table. In the Dataset in SSRS, it is the JobHead dataset.

Im no expert in it either, but for me, I always link the newly added table to the first logical table in the list, in this case, I would have done the Left Outer Join to T1.PartNum to T12.PartNum  
Also we are on Cloud so need to have Epicor do the Data Model Regen to cement those newly added \_c fields to the database.

Hopefully you can do a BAQ and “See” your data in the tables for those new fields also.

Try this instead. I’m assuming you are looking to get the fields in the Part table for the materials and not the assembly parts.

```auto

```

If you want, you can try using this too. I do this with all my reports as it makes it easier to read. It takes some time, but I have found it saves time if I ever go back to it.

Ok, so if there is data in Epicor in that field but not your dataset it sounds like something with the RDD. The RDD generates the dataset the RDL (SSRS) processes.
