Steven,

Before you go live if you can, copy your system to a test system, then test the upgrade procedure there. We did this, and found so many bugs and parts of Vantage which simply didn't work, that we have postponed going to V5, possibly indefinitely. We had errors (many major) in almost all operations in Vantage which include, but not limited to, the following:-
1) The installation itself did not go smoothly, 3 attempts, finally we had to patch the empty database to 5.00.312 (which didn't come out until the 2nd week of trying to install the upgrade) in order for the conversions to run properly
2) Reversed security - the only way this can be fixed is to remove everyone, and re-install each user with their security set-ups as before.
3) Part configurator pulling through every operation and material when putting on a job / sales order.
4) Security problem in accessing Purchase Orders especially if you have multiple companies
5) PC rules not copying over from 4 to 5 properly (We have a universal part used to configure almost every part we make)
6) Data collection not working
7) All of our Crystal Reports have to be changed to version 8. This caused great problems as input parameters would not work in Web report mode. We had to go to this as Seagate is no longer supporting report distribution. Seagate has now released their 8.5 upgrade which fixed some of the problems in 8, but we have yet to get one of our reports to work properly on it! The only way we can get the reports to print out properly is first to export as pdf, then print the pdf file.
8) As well as changing versions of Crystal Reports, Vantage 5 has also had some major internal table re-arranging, with the names and locations of many fields being changed. As we have approx 150 MUST HAVE reports and up to another 100 occasional reports, this has caused us major headaches.

We didn't get finished testing the system (4 weeks by that time) when the Managing Director pulled the plug on the upgrade as it was exhausting too much IT time and resources.

Good Luck is all I can say.

David Sloan

Does anyone have a current list of Vantage 5.0 bugs that they could post
online?

We are going live on Five this weekend.

Thanks!
