You can't format the cells ahead of time, b/c it just overwrites the file
(first export to txt, then save as xls OR get external data within xls).

You can't change the text once it's in the xls file. The cell has already
deleted the leading zero.

Can someone tell me a way around this problem? I'm using the Report Builder
"Export" function (open RB, click on "Report", "Export"). This function
exports the information I need into Excel, but it cuts off leading zeros for
fields that are all numeric. For example, if my part number is "00930156",
I get a part number exported as "930156". But if my part number has
alphabetic characters, such as "00930156A", I would get the correct part
number exported. Any thoughts? Thank you.

You could try converting the numeric fields to text using a calculated field
with the function:
STRING(NumericField)
This will force all your part numbers to come across as text and so Excel
should not cut off the leading zeros.
If that doesn't work you could also try formatting the cells as text within
Excel.

Also, you cannot replicate a PDC or BDC. If you have Vantage, Exchange, etc
installed on stand alone servers that are NOT domain controllers then you
can replicate them.

in some cases. ( Read: Any MS product - ie if you are replicating an
Exchange server you will need a second copy of Exchange since it is
"Installed" on both servers - even though only one is active at any given
moment. ) I'm not sure about Progress/Vantage ???

Also, you cannot replicate a PDC or BDC. If you have Vantage, Exchange, etc
installed on stand alone servers that are NOT domain controllers then you
can replicate them.

Subject: [Vantage] Anyone use a product called Double Take

I am looking at ways to provide disaster recovery in the event our
server is taken out
Aka Manufacturing firm and the IT Room is unlocked - Go Figure
Anyway I am looking at putting in a second server for redundency and
found this software called Double Take by Sunbelt Software
Here is the info and the URL

Double-Take provides real-time (and open file) data protection,
reducing downtime for Windows NT and 2000 networks. It is an industry
leading "two-in-one" type of product as it provides both High
Availability and Disaster Recovery.

Anybody have any experience using this?
