Director of Applications Development

Summary

The Director of Applications Development is responsible for managing business systems across the corporation which includes JDE, Web Development, SharePoint, Applications Development, Electronic Data Interchange, and Human Resource Management Systems. Setting the vision for the development of enterprise applications that have incorporated security, object oriented principles and rapid delivery of information solutions to the business. Assist with the development and maintenance of the company's business systems and ensure they support the organization objectives of productivity optimization, continuous improvement, and geographic growth.



Aligning business systems area's objectives with the organization's strategic plan will be achieved by working with the VP/I.T. and management from all business locations to identify current and future information needs and opportunities. Fiscally sound management initiatives will be outlined with Business Systems areas across all locations and the developing of project budgets will align with the overall operational goals of the corporate mission. This activity will ensure that all information technology assets are effectively utilized and are acquired in an economical and timely manner. Cross location sharing of projects, resources, and best practices will foster synergies across geographical boundaries allowing for business knowledge to further strengthen the relationships between business units.



Accountabilities

· JDE E1 applications development and support

· Application Portfolio Management

· Best Practice and continuous Improvement Leadership

· Business Process Re-engineering

· Global Web Development / shared resources

· SharePoint Development

· Business Intelligence tools deployment

· Support Business I.T. managers through shared services

· Develop global standards and controls that keep global development consistent and focused

· Track and manage globally any significant software investment / approve all programming outsourcing



Education, Skills, and Experience

· Bachelor's Degree required, Masters degree preferred

· Extensive knowledge of JDE ERP, E1 preferred

· Demonstrated business process reengineering experience and successes

· 5 - 10 years of experience managing a team of application developers required

· Demonstrated experience deploying state-of-the-art web functionality with best-in-class SEO metrics

· Broad knowledge of all aspects of the Business Systems: Financial, Manufacturing, Logistics, Human Resources, Procurement, Customer Service, EDI

· History of aligning with business partners in relation to MRP, DRP, and supply chain management

· Extensive understanding of all aspects of Information Technologies

· Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities in developing, staffing and retaining employees through people manager / mentor relationships

· Experience managing multiple solutions (Internal, Outsourced, Consultant/Contractor) to best support underlying needs of the organization

· Excellent understanding of capital, expense and departmental budgets

· Analytical skills and the ability to understand the logic reasoning used in systems / programs

· Systems development experience required

· Embraces Project management methodologies and related SDLCs

· Experience leading multidiscipline work teams

· Successfully positioning an I.T. Organization to achieve Sarbanes-Oxley certification

· Broad-based understanding of the AS/400 platform
