DO NOT CONVERT TO v5!

Well don't. Because if you turn them on you will have major
problems.

If you are using data collection at all do not convert to
version 5 of Vantage!!!!! There are major problems
that are not fixed! We are left right now with a shop
that is totally dependant on data collection and it
doesn't work. There is no fix available!
What about it doesn't work?

Yes, please elaborate. Are you speaking from current anger only? Have you
talked to support? I'm asking because our plan is to upgrade in one month
and I'm very concerned.

Thanks!

I'm definately angry. I'm posting this so that others
don't get burned though. I've talked to 5-6 people from
epicor and another user with the same problem. I like
vantage and I want to use v5 but we're really screwed
right now. Here's an scr# that is from another user:

Machines apparently get stuck in loops when starting
or ending direct labor activities. This makes our
terminal server go to 100% cpu utilization and then
other terminals start dropping from the network.

Thank you all. Unfortunatly we have learned from your misery. I'm assuming
this only applies to Labor Collection through data terminals. We still use
manual labor tickets.

Joe:

Is this all data collection stations? TT5? Or are these remote, using
terminal services? Or have I assumed too far? Under any circumstances,
this is a big problem. And it inhales with great force.

C'mon epicor beta test beta test beta test. I have always said that one
downside to the internet and all these high speed connections is that
software is released way to early. Now all you have to do is d/l a patch.
Think of the money the software companies are saving buy releasing there
product ASAP. 10-15 years ago we didn't have it.

We are using data collection and experiencing no problems with that program
that didn't exist in v4. We do not use terminal services, thus that may be
the key.

There are, however, many other problems within v5 that may push many of you
to wait. During month end proceedings we have found numerous problems
relating to job cost and WIP transactions. Credit memos for an invoice that
is linked to a sales order listing multiple items which are manufactured
using different jobs resulted in the credit memo being posted to all jobs on
that sales order.

Some of the other costing problems have been repaired in the latest patch
.308.

One major problem that still has not been resolved relates to the movement
of WIP to VAR and the relation when using make-to-inventory items and auto
receive to inventory. We have huge variances that appeared after posting
WIP. It appears to almost ignore any receipts to inventory through the jobs
shop run and created multiple lines in the WIP recon report for the same
job, same date, and for sums close to the total job cost. It has caused
understated aver cost values on the parts in inventory and thus any invoices
would contain the wrong cost. Quite a far reaching bug when you stop to
think of it.

Bottom line - be careful when upgrading. Side effects can getcha.
