Documentation on Progress and schema holder

That sounds very useful, I've asked Epicor for a copy of this. We will see how it goes.
I appreciate your help.

Do anyone know of any documentation for the Progress tools?
Back when using 5.x and 6.x, I was conformable with the DOS based tools, but since moving to 8 and a SQL backend, I have forgotten most of that.

Good morning,
I'm looking for any documentation that explains exactly how Progress communicates with the SQL server, specifics on how the schema holder works, the OpenEdge client, etc.
Specifically, we have an issue where a table is locked on the SQL side for an excessive amount of time. And we can see no reason why on the SQL end of it.
 
We are using Vantage 8.03.409a and SQL Server
backend.

No, there is a tool, it used to have the name sp_lock2, it was written by Raj a long time ago, it runs on intervals and it creates a log file of all programs and processes that are connected to the SQL DB and whether they are creating locks or not and it could be run on an interval for a period of time to determine if things were locking records for an excessively long period of time. Then the information would help tie back to what process was running it and combined with the Appserver logs it could be determined what Epicor Program or BO was triggering it and that would start them into investigating the cause as a starting point.

Good morning,

I'm looking for any documentation that explains exactly how Progress communicates with the SQL server, specifics on how the schema holder works, the OpenEdge client, etc.

Specifically, we have an issue where a table is locked on the SQL side for an excessive amount of time. And we can see no reason why on the SQL end of it.

 

We are using Vantage 8.03.409a and SQL Server backend.

On my side, when something is locked,  I go on the appserver tools to see the broker control and look at what is stopping it.  

Don't you have a URL link where you go and where you can stop and then restart your appserver?
