I just started dabbling with Kinetic for our company and was tasked with looking for a way to improve our tracking of shipments.
Right now to our pack lists are generated from order entry per line with relevant information in a comment field. this makes it nigh impossible to track dimensions of packages etc.
I proposed we use customer shipment entry and master pack to store this information but I have hit upon a couple of stumbling blocks
As I understand it, Customer Shipment entry is set up to have 1 entry per pack so 1 shipment line 1 pack.
How does this work if you have for example 1 line with 14 items each packed individually (so 14 packs)?
As it is set up now it would require us to input the relevant information 14 times or am I missing something?
As I interpret your question, you are selling a single item that is composed of 14 items which are in separate packages and when using Customer Shipment, it does not recognize the 14 separate items being sold. What is it you wish to see regarding the 14 items? Have you considered setting up the single item as a Sales Kit composed of the 14 separate items?
This is where specific language and understanding the intent/definitions of things becomes important.
In Epicor, 1 Pack ID is meant to represent one box/carton/container/etc. Each line represents something in the box. Put stuff in the box, (add lines to the pack id), when it’s ‘full’ close the box, seal it up (mark Pack ID ‘Closed’).
That one Pack ID CAN be shipped. (Small parcel, UPS, etc) print a shipping label, give it to the driver (mark Pack ID shipped)
That box/Pack ID can also, instead, be added to a larger shipping container (Master Pack ID), along with additional boxes/pack IDs. ( Add Pack Ids to a Master Pack)
