Not only is the quoted prices duplicated everything is
duplicated. Warehouse information, Inventory information, revision
information if it's a mfg part. There are times when you want to duplicate
all the information because they only difference may be color for instance.
So now if you don't have the complete duplicate function you'll have to do
extra work anyway. We use the duplicate function often. As an added step we
just delete pricing info and warehouse info if it is different
.

Subject: [Vantage] Duplicate Parts
Hi folks,
My Materials Mgr. has asked me to get the
reaction of you folks
to the following scenario:
In Part Maintenance, we use the "Duplicate" Part
function to create
a new part that is similar to an existing part. In
most cases, even
though the two parts are similar, quoted prices from
our suppliers
will be different. Vantage has been designed to
carry the quote
prices from the original part forward to the new
part. Again, in most
cases, we have to go in and change or eliminate the
prices in the new
part record. Do you folks find this acceptable? We
would like to see
this changed, but obviously, a single user has zero
chance of
initiating a change.
Thanks,
Bob Walton
