E9.04.507A - Order Entry is slow

Good Day Joe:

Sun is on 9.05.601B SQL-Unidata since 11/29/10
Testing 9.05.605 Scheduled about 7/15/11
Sun was previously on M2K (Manage-2000) 7.0 SP 5 (Informix)

We have not seen a slowness in Sales Order entry except in
converting quotes to Orders; but, we have seen a horrible slowness in
Quote entry - a 12-20 second delay after entering EACH Part#. Other
copanies do not seem to have the problem.
Massive helpline and consulting effort has not fixed it and nor has
9.05.604A, which we had loaded last week but are now going to 605. No
significant change. We also sent them our database to debug and they
could not resolve.
Current answer is that it will be fixed in 9.05.610 ( do out in
maybe 2/xx/2012.). A real morale killer.

DMT is sensitive to the number of records. The more records the
slower it goes. It starts to slow down even at 200-300 records. So,
maybe break yours up - you can run multiple session of DMT if you have
multiple processor. You can run multiple DMT's in one session, but far
better to have separate sessions. Take with a grain of salt, since Sun
has limited experience with DMT except for a massive run during data
migration - 8 processors running 8 DMT's - 24 hours a day for 3.5 days -
284,000 Part#'s

Subject: [Vantage] E9.04.507A - Order Entry is slow

Hi All,

Is anyone else on E9.0.507A experiencing a very slow order entry?

We do have a bunch of BPMs on the SaleOrder BO but when even when I
disable them all, it's still slow.

We notice the slowness when entering orders through Order Entry but it's
even more noticeable when trying to import Sales Order Details using
DMT.

If you are seeing a slow down on DMT and the UI then its not the the client
it has to be the BPM's Data Directives you have in place. Try bringing up
test, disable all BPM's and Data Directives, restart the app server and try
again. Sometimes the BPM code likes to hang on for dear life.

Or they botched the SO BO Code in that release which wouldn't surprise me.

Do you mean your on 9.04.407A?

When we went for 9.04 to 9.05 we noticed they reduced the number of business object calls. They created a MasterUpdate Method In Sales Order that replaced about 5 other method calls. The speed improvement was enough for users to make positive comments. Some BPMs did need modification. I wish they would do the same in Quote.

We are on 9.04.507A.

I'll have to keep your comments in mind.

Once we go live, I will be looking at upgrading to 9.05.
