E9 - Server Questions - MAC Mini Server

VirtualBox might also be worth a try if you really want to go down this road, but I agree that running with that extra virtualization layer isn't going to help an already hefty application.

With only 4GB of RAM and 2 SATA disks, you don't have a lot of options by way of configuration on the Mini. You might be better off with a spare desktop that you can throw some extra hardware into...

We are looking at running a MAC Mini server using VMWare to run Windows 2008R2.
Has anyone else run VMWare on a MAC to support Epicor E9? Anything to look out
for?

Yes, use Parallels instead of VMWare. VMWare is considerably slower and is buggy on the mac.

Is this meant for your live system? Or for a testing system/backup solution?

I couldn't imagine running it live for more than 10-12 people with VM on
there are well.

It was meant as a backup server, probably no more than 8 people at one time in
an emergency

You're going to have pretty rough performance even with only a couple people
in there.

You'll be much better off getting a larger box with a few more drives in it.

Also, while virtualizing is great for many reasons, if you want to run with
the minimum amount of metal it's probably not a great idea as it does come
with a substantial performance hit. Especially if it's not configured
correctly.
