sorry, we have no formal decision on the future direction of Bartender… but I know that there is a team putting together a plan. We need to have better support for the cloud bartender and better use of the APIs.
So reading between tbe lines, support for crystal will not be removed prior to the availability of bold reports?
it will be nice to have all products using the same reporting platform. From a customer perspective and support.
That’ll be wonderful!

Hi, You stated “(But you CAN print to Network printers without edge agent)” in a recent post. Can you please provide how this is achieved? We are fully browser in Kinetic Cloud 2025.2.10 with one exception which is printing A/P checks to a network printer which is the only function that uses Smart Client as we could not get it to work through Edge-Agent on browser. Thanks in advance.
In Epicor you setup the printers in Printer Maintenance. I believe you still need the Network Edge Agent installed on your print server however so the Browser print to your local LAN. BUT you wouldn’t need EA installed on each client PC just the one install on your print server.
Thanks, we’ll work with our IT to look at that setup and test in Pilot. We also have a support case opened in EpicCare. Thanks!!
how exactly you could not work it thought EA in browser?
I think they want to use Network Edge Agent so they don’t have to have EA on each client computer.
why would they need smart client for that?
From what I remember, System Monitor showed Complete but nothing printed. Print preview worked but no actual output when printed. Printing works fine in Smart-Client with all else done in Browser. We are going to install latest version of Edge-Agent and try again. It looks like we were missing setup for network printer in Printer Maintenance as Randy showed. It is a MICR font printer and that setup is complete and working with Smart-Client. The install of Edge-Agent requires IT Admin. We use outside managed IT and are looking forward to when Edge-Agent will automatically update with Kinetic is upgraded.
Next time check log for the Kinetic tray icon, there maybe more information why it is not printing.
Definitely, I’ll update when successful!
One subtopic that should have come up in this thread it seems is for the embedded printing tasks such as MtlTags and the Genxxx items in MES and automatic (seamless) printing from in-transaction data. How is that to be adapted for shop floor users with automatic printing and limited printer selection on shop floor MES stations? Is there a KB on adapting to this for 20216.100 and beyond?
you might check with Support to see if they have an answerbook on the subject. I dont personally know the answer.
Thanks Tim. Will do.
For those auto/background print routines, I remember creating BPMs for those, directing the print jobs to the printer attached to the user’s assigned workstation. (specify the edge printer’s URL)
If a different printer was needed, the user would select that different workstation (with the ‘different printer’ attached), then perform the Print Tags.
It’s workable - especially in a production area where every print job goes to one or two printers depending on whether its a label or document.
This is what I have concluded we need to do as well. I am in the process of changing a few shop floor practices to eliminate workstations which do not have a fixed location proximate to the specific operation/resource being used. That way, I can name the workstations and printers in coordination to the Resource Group or Resource (location) naming. And to your point, the user selects the output by selecting the workstation/printer for the labels required. I have also started imagining how to automate workstation selection at the time of beginning or ending the MES transaction. Just something to dig into when time permits to streamline process and decrease touches & clicks.
Thanks for this confirmation Andrew! It’s good to know others have done this with good results!
