Email global alerts

Along the same lines as Global Alerts, is there some documentation
that lays out all necessary setups in Vantage to implement the Email
Global Alert tool?

Or, has everyone just read the Help screens and configured and tested
on your own?
We just switched our exchanger server to a new system on a new machine. Before we did that, our email alerts were coming thorough fine.

Now they are not coming at all.

I went into the company > Email configuration and changed the SMTP server name to the current email server.

This still does not work. What am I missing?

Thanks,
Jasper

You have to change the "default.mfgsys" file as well. It's located in
the \epicor\mfgsys803\client\config folder on the server. You may
need to change it on each desktop as well, I'm not sure.

Open the file with Notepad and search for "SmtpServer value".

I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that I'm on version 6.1. I don't believe it has that file. Do you know what it would be called in version 6.1?

Thanks,
Jasper

Try and stop and restart the process server. You can also check the global
alert log on the server to see if you are getting any error messages.

Did you change the Exchange Server name and/or its IP address?

Jasper,

Make sure your Exchange server has both internal and external IP
addresses listed in it's allowed SMTP Relay hosts. This is the cause for
most system alert failures for not only Vantage, but backup software,
and other notifications.

We are on Exchange 2K (currently getting ready to move to 2K7). I
opened up a relay permission to allow from our Vantage server. Also,
make sure the IP is set in the company configuration (6.1).
