Embedded Dashboard Subscribe troubles

It wouldn't hurt to go to Progress' site & download the Open Edge Development Progress 4GL Handbook.

That can help with BAQs (and I suppose BPMs - not my thing). The BAQ editor only supports a small subset of the full progress language - but sometimes you get lucky and the handbook will give you a cleaner way to deveop a calculated field.

If you are doing client cusotmizations, you can't go wrong regularly visiting MS' Technet site. (Tons of free .NET code examples & a good self education source... Likely the same re v9 & ADO & C#).

Bingo! Thank you.

This brings up another point. You have fed me for a day, but what I would really like to do is know how to fish. We have the "Epicor Tools User Guide", but it only got 75% to the solution. You (and the other helpful people on this list) seem to have taken that "next step" in finding resources. I have had poor luck searching the Answer Books, and our Sales Rep mostly recommends on-line classes that other people here have already taken. I have gotten most of these "last mile" answers from this list.

Is there a set of resources I missing?

Hello,

I am trying to add an embedded dash board to a new sheet on a Job Tracker customization. I need the current JobHead.JobNum on the dashboard. In developer mode, I use the Sheet Wizard to make a new sheet, and on the Add Dashboard button, I select my dashboard (JobTrackerLabels) with the "Subscribe to UI data (auto Retrieve on publication)" option selected, added JobHead.JobNum as a Subscribe Column. In my dashboard, I've tried Tracker Views and Queries with their filters using Constant: CurrentJobNumber, but no matter what I try, I don't get the current JobNum, and I do get the following error window pop up.

The following application error was encountered:
Warning- Embedded Dashboard invoked as a Subscriber, but there is no Filter defined for the Published columns. Please notify system administrator.

Can someone tell me how to make the current JobNum available in an embedded dashboard?

Thank you,
Mike G.
Sorry, forgot to say we are on 8.03.407a.

Thank you,
Mike G.
Hi Mike,

You need to go to the filter area of your dashboard query, select the Job
Num and choose Dashboard Browse from the drop-down menu. I think it is at
the bottom. Just accept the defaults from the popup menu.

Then try it again.

Hello,

Dashboard button, I select my dashboard (JobTrackerLabels) with the

Views and Queries with their filters using Constant: CurrentJobNumber, but
no matter what I try, I don't get the current JobNum, and I do get the
following error window pop up.

The following application error was encountered:
Warning- Embedded Dashboard invoked as a Subscriber, but there is no Filter
defined for the Published columns. Please notify system administrator.

Can someone tell me how to make the current JobNum available in an embedded
dashboard?

Thank you,

I don't know of any other resources you are missing.

You have the Epicor Tools User Guide.

If you used the keyword "Dashboard" in your search of both "AnswerBooks" and "TechTips" on MyEpicWeb, then you have about 7 AnswerBooks or TechTips pertaining to dashboards.

The only thing left is the eLearnings on MyEpicWeb and the Webcasts on the Epicor main site. But these on-demand presentations are very basic & don't present anything more than what is in the Epicor Tools User Guide.

Thanks for the pointer. I've been using the "Would you like to search the KnowledgeBase? Click here or click the Search link above." on the main support page. (I never went into myEpicWeb for searching.) The Answer Book search in myEpicWeb is better than the main one, and the TechTip search had an article that mentioned the "Dashboard Browse" step. (The reply from Ross was much more clear though.)

So, I have my answer for today, and a new resource for tomorrow. Thanks again to both of you.

Direct Vantage resources are the Tools Guide, this board, I suppose
classes/consultants and a lot of projects and experimentation.

A decent 4GL resource is the 4GL Handbook by John Sadd. You should be able
to find that on the internet.

I think Andrew Troelson does a good job in this VB and C# book.

Maybe not the answers you are looking for. The books take you beyond
Vantage and are good sources of information.
