We use a progress report builder report to print badges with photos.

I will upload to the vantage site

We are just getting started with Data Collection on our shop floor
and we would like to create id badges with the employee's picture
and barcoded employee number. I was just wondering what systems
other Vantage users have used to create employee badges. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

Michelle

We modifed the existing crystal report to fit on standard Business Card
Stock. You can buy this at any office supply store. We then laminate the
cards. Each card has employee name, number, and barcode. The cards last
for a long time (several months) and are cheap and easy to replace. Our
folks took to them very quickly. I would be glad to share the crystal report
that we use.

Michelle,

We only use data collection for time clock puposes so we made time cards.
We went "low" tech.

Time card is a MS-Publisher document.
WASP fontware to create the barcode.
Laminate.
Done.

Since the timecards are only used twice a day some have lasted years.
We also made employee badges using the same method.

Michelle,

I did an Access database that links to Vantage and gets employee
information. We have a digital camera, so our badges have also a picture of
the employee. If you decide to put the picture of the person in Vantage,
make sure is a 256 bit map or lower. Also, we have employees that do
indirect labor only (like inspectors) start their activity at the time they
clock in and finish it at the time they clock out. We use barcodes for all
these activities. Labor cards are still a requirement since we look at labor
affecting a job very closely.

Good Luck!

Ok, this is where I have to relinquish to RB as the best tool.
At my previous company we had a Report Builder report that you filter by
employee id. This pulled the employee photo from the Vantage photo
file, and printed 2 separate bar-codes, one for entry, one for exit.
They were printed using the dataworks barcode font provided with
Vantage. The barcodes were set up to print above one another, and upon
printing, you folded between the two. On the front of the card was a
picture, name and punch in bar-code, on the back was the punch out
barcode. The barcodes included the keys to complete the punch in and
out $M = enter, * = start and stop. We laminated them and the cards
lasted several years for most.
