Employee Photos in DC

Speaking of potentially obvious solutions: Being as the employee id and the
photo id are the same for us, is there an easy way to copy the employee id
field to the photo id field?

Thanks
Brian Boyes,

I'm not aware of a simple way of copying but since the employee no. is right
there only un-highlightable you can just retype it.

Jeff
I'm hoping someone who uses employee photos in the data collection module in
Vantage 4.0 might be able to help me with this.

I am trying to copy our security badge photos over to Vantage so the
employee picture will appear in the data collection screen when the employee
enters their id. Per the Vantage help, I am using graphics software
(Polyview) to reduce the size of the image to 150 pixels high (the software
determines the appropriate width to keep the proper aspect) and saving them
as 8-bit BMPs. Oddly enough, my picture works and will show up in the DC
screen when I enter my id, but nobody else's does. All I get is the default
silhouette. All pictures are the same dimensions. They have all been saved
in our company ID in the empphoto directory under Vantage. I have even tried
removing the padding zeroes from the employee number which is used as the
name for the picture. No luck.

Has anyone run in to this or have any ideas? It would be much appreciated.

Did you go to the shop employee and make sure that the employee photo points
to their photo in the directory for each employee?

make sure the filename is no longer than 8+3...we ran into this when we
saved the pic with the complete name of the employee

That was it. I didn't realize there was a difference between their employee
id and the photo id. Oddly enough, some of employees are already set up,
some are not.

That answer was probably pretty obvious, but I am just getting used to the
front end of Vantage. Up until now, I've dealt mostly with the back end.

We ran into a similar problem and determined that the file name is limited to only eight characters.. like in DOS. It would allow us to link a long file name, and acutally display the photo until you exited from the maintenance screen and then it would loose the link.

Check to see if the file names are longer than eight characters.. if so shorten them and check it again.
