End a continuous processing task

I foolishly started a continuous processing task. How do I kill it?

I removed the task from the startup schedule, and I deleted the startup schedule for good measure. I’ve restarted the task agent service twice. It’s not listed in Scheduled Tasks in the system monitor. But the log file continues to update regularly.

I had to regenerate the database model today, so I used the planned downtime to restart the server. The task is finally dead. Maybe stopping the task agent service for longer than the process delay would have done it, too, but I wasn’t taking that chance.
