Jim, make sure you have the correct version of endact

You are prompted for the correct Company ID and employee ID

When you enter the employee ID you receive a prompt for the active record
and it will display. The prompt shown is "YES". You must change this to
"NO" and it will then prompt you for the next transaction active for this
employee. Continue to select NO. When there are no more active
transactions it will prompt you to end activity for another employee. Say
NO and you are off to the races. You can then run the clockout.r program.
Hope that helps

doesn't appear to work. I'm not getting the prompts like I remember. Any
assistance is appreciated. Thanks

Just looking on the group's ideas on this dilemma:

Knowing that 6.0 is lurking around the corner, should I make our crew suffer
through the changes in 5.2 only to have another set of changes when going to
6.0? Or should I go 6.0 on them right away, and only make them go through
upgrade?

Currently I am on 5.1, but as we all know, no matter how well we think we
have prepared our cyber flock for a change, there will always be those who
resist any type of change. Sometimes I think it is a miracle that every one
here survived the horse and buggy upgrade, and gets to work using a
automobile....

TIA,

Paul Siebers
We were just about to move to 5.2, but I also have been thinking(which is scary). I might just wait to look at 6.0 first. I asked for my copy just today.

We're also on 5.1 and are considering going straight to 6.0 in the near
future. Looking through the documentation, 6 has a lot of nice features our
company can take advantage of. Besides, one upgrade is hard enough (on
users and administrators) - I'd prefer to make one big leap as opposed to
two in rapid succession.

I am planning on taking our group from 5.0 to 6.0 direct. I don't use the
term training on upgrades, I prefer orientation. With our group, no matter
how small or large the change the same amount of orientation is required.
Actually the smaller the change, the harder it is. Go figure.

Having gone from 4.0 to 5.2 in one leap I can confirm that big changes can be traumatic. But.... 6.0 does not have a lot of functionality changes and or mandatory user interface changes as does 5.2 (like Engineering Workbench). Most of the changes in 6.0 involve customization and personalization and behind the scenes stuff to move toward Sonoma (v7.0). Some people may not even notice a difference from 5.2 to 6.0. There was a lot of 6.0 info at the MN User Group meeint last Thursday. The screen customization looks pretty interesting. Make your own changes, as traumatic as you like. ;)

Plus, if you end up needing to do RB updates for possible dictionary changes, and certainly any customization to Crystal forms, then doing both releases at once will allow this work to need to be done only once. The biggest downside would be the lack of real world live testing to flush out possible code defects in 6.0. 5.2 seems to be a lot better now having had its share of patch releases. So it might be a bit risky in terms of bugs but probably not all that big a leap for the users.

I did this for the move from 4.0 to 5.1 and it worked well. Users only know
it is a change and change is bad, so may as well do it all at once.
