We are on version 9.05.607b. What is happening with us is that if sales tries to enter a sales order directly from a part that is on hold, they are unable to enter the order. But if they try to pull in the information from a quote and the part is on hold, they will get the warning and they will still enter the order. Then this order could be made incorrectly due to the change in the part because it will be made according to the info on the sales order which pulled from the old part info. Why do they continue after the standard warning, I really don't know. But it happens a lot. Thanks for this information. We may have to put the quote on hold at the same time the part is put on hold.

Hi Mary,
When I add a part to a quote that is on hold, I get a clear warning - but the quote does allow me to continue.
If users continue to use part numbers in a quote even after they get the warning you'll probably need to make a form customization or BPM.
I'd ask why the standard warning isn't enough to stop users from entyering parts that are on hold first.
What version are you on?
