Epicor 10? Blank Title 119234

Thanks... pretty much what I thought. I guess it depends on if we decide to go ahead and what our timing plan is. Either way we will definitely be doing some data cleansing and reviewing customisation requirements :)

When it comes out I would say that IT depts should be all over it, but not involve implementation teams until the dust settles which could be a long or short period of time. Hopefully short :)

We are considering taking the step to 'upgrade' to Epicor 9 from Vantage 8.03.409a and went to an ERP conference last week where it was confirmed by the Epicor rep that E10 is in the pipeline and possibly due out towards the end of the year... has anyone else heard this? And if so, would it be as big a jump from E9 to E10 as it will be from Vantage to E9? Thanks.
My recommendation - Go to 9.05.70x

This is all pure speculation, but what I base my assumption on this...

10 isn't even out in Beta yet, I wouldn't jump to it for at least 9-10
months from the first general release to allow for full testing by yourself
and others and wait until the first service pack is out at least, maybe even
the second. There are some major changes from 8.03 to 9.04, and again from
9.04 to 9.05. You need to make these jumps even if you go to 10, plus
whatever major jumps there are from 9.05 to 10. With every jump in level,
you are adding another layer of complexity to your upgrade. The more
complex, the more headaches you will possibly have in sorting out data
errors.

The alternative, if you are running ok on 8.03 right now would be to wait
for 10, and not upgrade, but use the DMT tool, or whatever tool they have at
the time, to do a full clean implementation from scratch again, takes a
little bit of time but allows you to clean up all your data in the newer
system since sometimes too many upgrades at one time end up with your data
being like the telephone game.

We are considering taking the step to 'upgrade' to Epicor 9 from Vantage
8.03.409a and went to an ERP conference last week where it was confirmed by
the Epicor rep that E10 is in the pipeline and possibly due out towards the
end of the year... has anyone else heard this? And if so, would it be as
big a jump from E9 to E10 as it will be from Vantage to E9? Thanks.

I've heard similar on the anticipated release for 10, however I agree that I wouldn't touch 10 with a 20ft pole until I've heard and feel safe that it's stable or heard from others on the group of what pitfalls are to come. When it comes out I would say that IT depts should be all over it, but not involve implementation teams until the dust settles which could be a long or short period of time. Hopefully short :)
